Land of Linkin’ – Road-trip!
Drive the Illinois legs of Route 66 for a sense of road-tripping in a bygone time. The Wall Dogs' murals and Palms Grill diner in Atlanta, Illinois, fiberglass “giants” and Odell gas station are faves of this author. This button from the Mother Road Festival contains a recording of “Route 66”.

Get going!
Wheaton and Historic Pullman are pretty different slices of Illinois, but both have steeples.
Don't miss the statue of the Man of Steel. And phone booth.
Lots of corn.
At one time, Nauvoo was the most populous town in Illinois.
